Crawl inside our mobile planetarium and discover the universe around you. The Stardome is the portable, inflatable planetarium that comes to you!
Topics covered can include day and night, seasons, stars, planets, solar system, gravity, phases of the moon and constellations. If you have any specific areas you would like covered, just ask and we can do our best to accommodate!
Advanced Stardome sessions are available.
The following direct science curriculum topics are covered:
Predictable phenomena on Earth, including seasons and eclipses, are caused by the relative positions of the sun, Earth and moon.
The Earth is part of a system of planets orbiting around the sun.
Earth’s rotation on its axis causes regular changes, including night and day.
Forces can be exerted by one object on another through direct contact or from a distance.
Daily and seasonal changes in our environment, including the weather, affect everyday life.
The constellations are discussed and the stories behind a number of prominent constellations are used to bring the sky to life and provide a memorable experience for the students. Stories from other cultures are included to show the importance of culture in interpreting the night sky.
Please note, the StarDome requires an indoor space of 7 m x 7m with an unobstructed ceiling height of 3.2m and one power point.
